On-line 30 Day Relaxation Challenge

I ran a FREE 30 Day Relaxation Challenge in October and November of 2013 through my blog. Although the challenge is over, the posts remain, allowing you to participate as a self-study, 30 day practice. This 30 day challenge includes restorative poses, guided relaxation, meditation, gentle yoga, therapeutic yoga, soma yoga, and breath work.

I don't have a set amount of time per day that I advise for practice. I am imagining anywhere from as little as 5 minutes to as much as 60 minutes per relaxation session. The main thing is to make a commitment to slow down, nourish yourself, practice mindfulness, and de-stress for 30 days in a row.

Visit my blog to join. Remember, blog posts are listed from newest to oldest so you will have to scroll back to the beginning or navigate to the blog's sidebar and look under "archive" (start October 2013) to find the posts. Enjoy!

Drop-in Restorative Classes

Deep Relaxation / Yoga Nidra is held 1 x monthly on a Thursday night, 7-8:15 PM at Yoga North in Duluth MN. Space fills up so you must reserve your spot on-line at Yoga North. Class will consist of a variety of relaxation techniques including guided meditation & imagery, breathwork, and restorative postures. In the state of deep relaxation, tension is released from the body on a physical level, and the mind completely switches off. The relaxation response brings your system into balance. When practiced regularly, you will reduce your everyday stress levels and boost your feelings of wellbeing. You will also build deeper awareness and bolster your health with deep relaxation.

Yin Relax is held on Friday nights, 5:15-6:30 PM. Meets weekly at Yoga North. Drop-ins welcome but pre-registering is advised as this class does tend to fill up. Yin Yoga uses traditional Hatha poses, mostly seated or reclining postures which allow a deep stretch, combined with Restorative style poses, which use multiple props to support the body, and therapeutic yoga, all which allow a deep opening in the body. All poses will be held longer than in a regular Hatha class - around 5 minutes per pose. The dynamic of the class will be meditative, focusing on the breath and using the breath to find opening and ease in the body. We will each stay in our own spot vs. moving around the room like we do for Restorative Stations. You can bring your own mat or borrow one from Yoga North.

Restorative Stations is held on a Thursday night, 7-8:15 PM at Yoga North in Duluth MN. Space fills up so you must reserve your spot on-line at Yoga North. A relaxing, meditative class which uses props to allow a gentle opening in the body. Most poses are experienced while laying or sitting on the floor. The postures are timed and students are directed when to switch sides and when to come out of the pose. The poses are demonstrated before class starts: how to get in, how to make adjustments for maximum comfort, what pose to take if the one offered is not available to you, and how to get out again. You do not need to bring props to class - the room will be set up when you arrive. I do recommend wearing warm clothes and/or bringing an extra shirt. For more info visit my FAQ page.

Availability and price

Prices vary at Yoga North from $8.75 - $12.75 per class, depending on if you are a student or senior, if you have a punchcard, or if you are a one-time, drop-in student. Master classes are usually $15 and workshops start at $25 and go up from there. Looking forward to seeing you there. Namaste.

On-site or Private Lessons

I teach at a variety of locations around Duluth - see my schedule page for my current teaching schedule and list of classes. I have listed which are drop-in and which are private. If you are interested in a private session, I am available to teach at your location or at Yoga North Studio in Duluth, MN. If you choose to have your private class at Yoga North you do not have to bring any props to class - not even your mat. If you choose to have me come to your location you will need to provide your own props: a yoga mat, 1-2 blocks, and 1 belt per person.

What to expect in an on-site class

I will come to your place of business to teach yoga for an individual or a group. We can do a series, workshop, or one-time class. I can do a single style yoga class (Therapeutic, Somatic, iRest Yoga Nidra, Relaxation, Yin, Restorative, Inner Core, or Hatha) or a hybrid style (i.e. combo Hatha/Yin, Hatha/Core, Relaxation/Somatic, Somatic/Therapeutic, Therapeutic/Core, etc.).

What to expect in a private class

My specialties in teaching are in Deep Relaxation, iRest Yoga Nidra, Yin, Hatha, Inner Core and Therapeutic Yoga. Private classes will focus on what interests you and what I see in your body that might need some attention.

Availability and price

Varies depending on location, number of students and length of contract (for example, one class vs. an 8 week series). See my contact page to get in touch. Looking forward to working with you. Namaste.
